Repair guides, torque specs and fluid capacities for the 4.0L inline six, with every fact checked against two independent sources, one of them always the workshop manual.

Editorial & sourcing policy

The publishing bar

A number, part number or procedure step is shown as Verified only when:

  1. at least two independent sources give the same value, and
  2. at least one of them is factory data: a Chrysler/Jeep factory service manual (FSM) or a technical service bulletin (TSB).

Independent means a separate publication. The same table republished on several websites, or several years of the same factory manual, counts as one source. Where we can only read a source second-hand (for example from a search index because the site was down), the citation says so.

Anything that doesn’t meet the bar is never shown as Verified. It is either removed or listed separately, labeled Single source, Sources conflict or Not yet verified, with a note explaining why.

Part numbers follow the same rule. A Mopar parts catalog listing counts as the factory source, and it needs one independent catalog to agree. Aftermarket cross-references can’t have a factory source, so they need two independent catalogs and are labeled “2 catalogs” instead of “Verified”.

Sign-off

Every page is reviewed and signed off by Dario Paolini before it is published. Each page shows the date its sources were last checked.

Source types

  1. Factory service manuals and technical service bulletins (count as factory).
  2. NHTSA records (recalls and complaints).
  3. Independent service data and OEM or manufacturer parts catalogs (Mopar, Crown, SMP, Dorman and similar).
  4. Encyclopedias (such as Wikipedia), enthusiast references and forum threads. We may mention these, but they never count toward the bar.

Year groups

Every page says which of these it covers: 1987–90 Renix, 1991–95 HO (OBD-I), 1996 OBD-II, 1997–99 OBD-II, 2000–01 OBD-II. Where our factory source covers only some years, the table’s “applies to” column says so.

Corrections

If you find an error, tell us and include your source. Corrections are made on the page and dated.

AI and automation

Drafts may be prepared with software tools. No page is published until Dario has checked it against the cited sources and signed it off.

Money

Affiliate links never decide which part we list. OEM numbers come first so you can buy anywhere. See the affiliate disclosure.

Verified. Two independent sources agree, and one of them is factory data.

Single source. Only one source gives this figure.

Not yet verified. It has not been checked against that rule yet.

Sources conflict. The sources do not agree, so both figures are shown.

2 catalogs. Two independent catalogs agree on an aftermarket number. Factory catalogs do not list those.

Every published fact needs two independent sources, one of them factory data. Anything short of that is flagged.
